About the Artist
One-of-a-kind needle-felted birds and woodland sculptures, made carefully by hand, here in my Studio.
I’m Rosie, the artist behind Grey Wren Studio. Before I began sculpting in wool, I was a doll maker, drafting my own patterns and taking my work to craft fairs. Later, after discovering needle felting online and buying a small bundle of supplies, I realised I had found a way to bring together two things I had long loved — making by hand and the quiet presence of birds. What began as curiosity soon became a deeper practice, and over time it grew into the work that now fills my studio.
Grey Wren Studio is where that practice has taken root: a space for sculptural birds, wildlife, and smaller collection-led pieces, all shaped through patience, observation, and a lasting pull toward the natural world. Alongside developing my own work, I have also taught needle felting at local venues, sharing the same process that first drew me in.

Everything in Grey Wren Studio is needle felted by hand, built gradually in wool and finished with care. My work ranges from one-of-a-kind sculptures released in small batches to selected commissions based on past pieces, as well as collections that explore recurring forms, colourways, and seasonal themes.
I’m also developing video workshops for those who would like to step into the process and learn how these pieces are shaped in wool. Each sculpture is made slowly in my studio, as time and inspiration allow, with a focus on individuality, quiet presence, and the feeling of something closely observed and brought to life by hand.

I share studio snapshots and works-in-progress on Instagram and Pinterest as each piece comes to life. New sculptures are announced as they’re added to Ready to Ship and released exclusively on my website.
